Allison Rupprecht
Q: Where are you from?
A: I am originally from the Pittsburgh area, but spent most of my childhood in Columbia, South Carolina.
Q: What is your year & major?
A: I am a junior psychology major at Clemson University with a minor in art.
Q: How long have you been making ceramics or other art in general? Have you studied anywhere besides Clemson?
A: I have had a passion for art for as long as I can remember, but I found my love for ceramics when I was a junior in high school. My time at Clemson has given me the opportunity to really get to know the medium and improve as an artist.
Q: How would you describe your design aesthetic/style?
A: I would describe my work aesthetic as simplistic forms with immense attention to surface detail.
Q: What do you love most about ceramics?
A: What I love most about ceramics is how versatile the clay is and also how dirty you get in the process of making work. I feel that making ceramics gives me the opportunity to discover things about myself.
Q: What are you inspirations? In general and for the selected piece.
A: I am inspired by pattern and repetition that I find in my everyday experiences and surroundings. The selected piece was designed with my younger sister in mind, who enjoys colorful, playful patterns.
Q: What are you most excited about for this CSA season?
A: I am most excited about the pickup event for the Spring 2015 season. This is where you see everyone’s hard work throughout the season come together, as well as the shareholder’s reactions to the work they purchased.
