Brittany Wilund
Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from Lexington, SC.
Q: What is your year & major?
A: I am a senior getting my Bachelors in Fine Art, concentrating in Ceramics.
Q: How long have you been making ceramics or other art in general? Have you studied anywhere besides Clemson?
A: While I have been making art since I was a small child Ceramics is a new medium for me. I have been working with Ceramics for 2 and a half years now and absolutely love it. In addition to Clemson I studied at the University of Arts in London over the summer in 2013.
Q: How would you describe your design aesthetic/style?
A: Aesthetically, my style is organic, and in my functional work I particularly focus on creating an intentional sense of weight, balance, and delicate detail through altering wheel thrown forms while still on the wheel. I also am very interested in atmospheric firings and the play between the amount of involvement and lack of control that occurs in the process.
Q: What do you love most about ceramics?
A: The versatility and flexibility of ceramics is what drew me to it. I love the ability of clay to blur lines between mediums.
Q: What are you inspirations? In general and for the selected piece.
A: I am inspired by organic forms and patterns in nature, and for this piece I drew from these organic patterns to create a natural, yet controlled and delicate form. I am also inspired by the atmosphere created from ash during wood firing and it’s unique and unpredictable nature.
Q: What are you most excited about for this CSA season?
A: I am excited to see how the community that has been started grows and develops through this season. With this second share I am excited to see returning shareholders and new additions to the community.
