Q: Where are you from?

A: I am from Beaufort, South Carolina.

Q: What is your year/major? Have you studied anywhere besides Clemson?
A: I am a senior Visual Arts major with a concentration in ceramic arts at Clemson University.

Q: How long have you been making art and why do you do it?
A: In addition to ceramics, I also enjoy printmaking.  I have been interested in art for eight years.

Q: What themes do you pursue as an artist?
A: The Baroque art movement is what really inspired me to create work in sculpture.  In my earlier sculptural work, I explored the synthesis of the human figure and how major masses related to each other.  My current work continues to incorporate the overarching concepts of progressive abstraction.  I am also interested in religious history and how humanity has influenced what is seen as “divine.”

Q: What do you like about your work? In general and for the selected piece?
A: My piece for the Fall CSArt season is different than some of my other work.  My share piece is an espresso cup.  What I am excited about most for my cup is the different layers of surface texture and glaze application.  Fun polka dots decorate the top of the cup and drip down into blue tendrils at the bottom.  There isn’t a foot to the cup but the bottom displays delicate lines that mimic the blue drips.

Q: What are you most excited about for this CSA season? What do you hope to gain by joining us as a share artist?
A:  I am very excited to see all the new share artwork and work with the new season’s artists.

Q: What are some other art related internships, demonstrations, gallery showings, or publications you have been involved with?
A: Currently I work for a jeweler in a metals studio and I work at a Bed & Breakfast.
